FAQ's I have faced over two months

Hello everyone!!!

Glad to meet you once again in the post. 

Coming to the subject, please follow the dialogue below:

ME: Hi! Praneeth.

PRANEETH: Hi Goutham!!! How are you?

ME: Very fine! started preparing for the exams?

PRANEETH: not yet. By the way, last week in the assembly they announced that you did something...... you invented some stick & sow method and you ........ discovered some comets........ something like that.......

I did not get it.

ME: I will explain it to you later. Maybe tomorrow in the break......

PRANEETH: Okay. See you. bye.

                         This is one of twenty to thirty conversations I had with my schoolmates and friends. Believe I had them for two months and as I was one day passing through the corridor,

MUFFLING: Hey!! Is he the one who invented a formula to get rid of asteroids, our maths teacher said?

                      Yeah!! He's the one.

                          This is the sort of muffling and giggling I am hearing till now after the announcement made in my school assembly which is being following with many notions and wrong interpretations. Right from the the juniors till seniors I am hearing this though the rate of this is the highest in Juniors......

                          Well!!! Now Its time to get straight to the point.

                           On one fine autumn Sunday, at eight 'o clock ."Whoaaaaaaaaaaa........", woke up and did all the chores. After my bath and breakfast, sat down near the workbench. Staring at the math textbook, just went through the outline of trigonometry. I wondered how did the early astronomers correctly predicted solar eclipses and mapped the night sky using math. Its contribution to the field of astronomy is enormous. After a while I sat down on the sofa just to digest news of the day when a part of the city's section read

                    EARTH TO EXPERIENCE EQUAL DURATION OF DAY AND NIGHT

                           Well!!! Its the phenomenon we do encounter twice an year. The Equinox. This happens in the spring and the autumn of every year. Then just to know more about it flipped pages of the encyclopedia to know the exact date of the event.

                            That evening, just lied down to take a nap when it struck me. It struck me.

                             So, you might ask what struck me. Is it? Well, its not a thunder bolt but the idea. The idea of finding out the latitude of a location on an equinox day. Then some can raise their hands saying that we can always find out the latitude using the apparent angle of the pole star from the horizon any clear night.

                             But I have devised a way which involves some measurements and trigonometric calculations to give a very accurate value of the latitude of a location which will be briefly discussed in the next post.

                            Coming to the other misunderstanding of discovering asteroids or getting rid of asteroids, its nothing but the new NEO observations the school team had made in  the All India Asteroid Search Campaign  about which will be discussed in later posts.
